There are quite a few ways that you can register a domain name, both free
and paid. I am sure that there are quite a few that I am not aware of, so if
anyone else knows of any, please add to my list.

1. Free domain name registration: www.namezero.com
They register the domain name and redirect URLs to whatever website you have
your page on. They put a small banner at the bottom of the page, or for $26
a year, you can pay to have the domain registered in your name and get rid
of the banner. They also allow email redirection so you can have an email
address pointed at your domain name. For example: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
can be redirected to any email address that you choose. The downside is that
recently they have put up a disclaimer saying that it can take up to 30 days
for a free domain registration to go through. When I did mine last month, it
only took a few days.

2. Reserve your domain name at www.register.com
This is one of the main sites for looking up the availability of domains and
reserving them. They only do the registration though and don't do any web
hosting.

3. free web space: www.f2s.com
This company allows you to have up to 20 mb of free web space, banner free.
I have my personal website here and the URL is redirected to this site.

There are quite a few ways to do this. Also you can search any search engine
for "free domain names".
