What about me? If I had financial problems, would I dump members of my family
to save money? Of course not. Would a corporation dump employees faithful to
them for decades? In a second. I don't think the comparison between
corporations and individuals is valid. And even if it is, its not rely
germane to the argument. Many or most corporations may be greedy, many people
may be greedy, but is a society based on greed our vision of the future?
Corporations have little forsight, they often seem to exist from quarter to
quarter with very little consideration of how their actions might effect
others or even themselves a year or two down the line. Thus we get companies
that don't recall a faulty tire as soon as they discover a problem with it
because it will cost them too much short term. If they sat down and thought
about it for a few minutes it would probably occur to them that its gonna cost
them far more in the future if they don't recall the tires, but today's bottom
line is the holy grail, so they don't think about it or they cross their
fingers, close their eyes and hope it all goes away. We get this same
scenario played out over and over again by greedy corporations and they are
getting larger and gaining more and more power over our everyday lives. Do we
really want such short sighted soulless, conscienceless entities controlling
our destiny?
I'm not against capitalism or corporations, but I am against yielding the
future to them entirely.

But we alone, of all the life forms that have evolved, have some control over
our own destiny. We can choose civility over brutality and make it work! We
don't have to rely wholly on natural selection!
Planning on a nation-wide scale is impossible. Even in

I know I've heard you tout "the rule of law" numerous times on this list.
What is the rule of law other than an attempt to control?
