I have to disagree Michael. What you call "a few mouse clicks" was the
most expensive film ever made. The graphics are a giant step forward
from anything else that we have ever seen to this point.
Moreover, I don't know how anyone can watch the opening sequence and call
it anything but art. The scenes of the pterodactyl flying over the
river, and through the varied species of dinosaurs is just simply
breathtaking. If art is the language of emotions - then this art was
very successful, as it brought to visual life scenes that I had only
dreamt about as a child.

You missed my meaning. The "few mouse clicks" were accessory programs that
did the skin, motion, lip syncing, hair, physics engines, etc. that took the
majority of the work away from the animators and placed it in the hands of
the computer. It's like comparing photographs to paintings. The
photographer sets the parameters and the camera takes the picture. The
painter spends many hours painstakingly trying to create a good
representation. In the end, the photograph is more accurate, but is it art?
I'll admit that they did a darned good job, but how much was creating, and
how much was simply telling the computer what to do? They created the models
on their own, which I will agree is an art in and of itself, but the
animation part was another story.
