But Kazakhstan is a stable place, since Nursultan Nazarbayev
is a political genius. He was the first to support Gorbachev,
he was the first to support Boris Yeltsin, and he will
probably outlive Putin.
All this despite the fact that the kazakhs are about 1/3 of
the population of Kazakhstan. The rest descend from forced
immigrants from the Stalinist Era, and they are still
foreigners in the land they were born.
