ISTR seeing (and I'll use the T1 connection at my office to check this out
today) studies that indicate owning a dog is the best way to ensure a
burglar does not choose your house. In any event, the vast majority of
burglars choose unoccupied houses - we're talking about a *very* small
percentage of break-ins.
Rapists are another matter, but again, a dog or a good security system beats
a gun in my book.
Please note: I am not opposed to gun ownership, although I think Marvin's
points regarding the *responsibilities* of ownership are darn good.
