<Watches it roll by and shakes head>

My goodness. One day goes by without an argument, and inevitably someone
pipes up with a "Boy, the list sure is quiet" comment.

Perhaps you would like to purchase an argument? They seem fairly
inexpensive here on the list! ;-)

Here's a topic for cogitation and mastication: People often talk about
nature vs. nurture, and some argue that we place gender-specific roles on
our children without realizing it.

>From my own observations of my children, I honestly believe that this is not
entirely true. My son, age 3, through no encouragement of mine, *loves*
dinosaurs, trucks and cars. My older daughter, age 4.5, OTOH, couldn't
possibly be more indifferent to these things, vastly preferring Barbies and
fake jewelry, again with no *consious* reinforcement from us.

So I wonder: Is there some predisposition for these things, regardless of
what current child pyshology trends would like us to believe?

And for the record, they both love Star Wars, dancing around to music, and
getting dirtier than a diesel mechanic outside irrespective of gender, so
it's not like there's no crossing over of "standard" roles.

Thoughts, observations, annoying pop pyschology anecdotes designed to make
me feel like a bad parent? :)

Jim
P.S. - Sorry about the passing of your pet.
