I am trying to remember the name of an old science fiction movie. Late 50s
early 60s. IA scientist has invented a "viewer" to view the future, but when
he gets a picture, it turns out that it is really a door into the future.
They go through and experience a dystopia. There are androids that look
human except for their faces which look something like a gas mask. I don't
remember much. It ended with them going back through the door, but the bad
guys go through too and they are all caught in a loop of time. It was
disturbing to me as a kid. No happy ending. It was playing in the
background in some more recent science fiction movie, but I can't remember
that either. This is going to ring a bell for somebody.
