We were without a functioning TV for awhile, and didn't miss it *too*
badly. (I think it was about 8 months or so.) We could get weather
reports and baseball games from the radio, and that was about all we
really wanted more immediately than a daily paper would give us. Of
course, my sister and I were old enough not to pitch tantrums and cry
about the whole thing. :) And anyone bitching about being bored would be
directed to the shelves and shelves of books, not to mention the stacks in
the upstairs hallway (that finally got bookcase homes a few months before
I graduated from high school).
