I knew that.  :)  I wanted to see if it made anyone stop and THINK, if
there were someone who'd never seen the question before.

I have a friend whose mother was working at NIH.  There are animal
experiments done at NIH.  This woman had nothing to do with experimenting
on animals, but one day as she came out of work, there were an awful lot
of protesters outside the building, making it unpleasant, but not
impossible, to get out to her car in the parking lot.  One of her
co-workers was walking out with her, made an observation out loud that
shut up a few people, and they got to the parking lot a lot more easily
than some of their co-workers.

"Leather shoes."

Now, while it could be argued that animal experimentation is a lot less
pleasant for the animal than some sort of a life outdoors that ends in a
relatively quick death and being turned into shoes, among other things,
many of the people who actually go and protest find any sort of
maltreatment of animals odious.  (At least, that's the impression I have.
I could be wrong.)
