I havent been keeping up with the list for the last few days.
My niece Brittany was in a bad auto wreck sunday night and she finally died
tonight.
The two other people in the car with her, the driver and another passenger,
received concussions and some bruises but were otherwise unharmed. The other
vehicle hit the car door where my niece sat with so much force that my
nieces seatbelt was broken, and she was thrown to the floorboard under the
steering wheel.
She had severe head trauma and was resuscitated on the scene before
transport to the hospital.
For the last three days she only had partial brainstem activity. Her heart
was beating on its own, but she needed a machine to breathe for her. (This
was enough to tell me she wasnt likely to live, and the hardest thing was
watching my family cling to false hopes.)
Tonight, the doctors pulled the plug. Her heartbeat slowly wound down, and
within ten minutes she passed away.
She was eighteen and about to graduate high school. Her artwork decorated
the cover of her senior yearbook. She was loved by many people.
The tradgedy of the death of a loved one is difficult, but what is harder is
the grief of the loved ones left behind. It hurt so much more to see my
family members hurting as much as they did and for the reasons they did.
Thanks for listening to me.......I really wanted to get some of that out.
