When I discovered my ex-fianc' (fianc at the time) was pregnant, I had
mixed emotions that ranged from resentment to fear to excitement. These
changing emotions hung on throughout the pregnancy and sometimes changed
daily.
But now that the little guy is here, I have to say that there is nothing
more humbling and emotional than looking into the eyes of your newborn son
moments after seeing the birth.
My ex-fianc and I discovered that we can't live together, but we do plan on
being civil and parenting the baby together.
My daughter is happy that she has a [half] brother, but she has decided that
changing real diapers is not quite as glamorous as changing the diapers on a
doll!
My ex let me choose the first name and I chose Johnathon (I got to choose
the name, but the ex insisted on spelling it this way). I didn't realize it
until a nurse told me, but apparently Johnathon is Hebrew for "God's gift."
Go figure.
I have one thing that I need to warn Julia's husband about ... never forget
these three words ... Post Partum Depression.
