First impression of New Zealand: "Er, pardon, are you speaking English?
Could you run that by me again? Why do you keep saying 'Cheers'?"

Close-to-first impression: "OH MY GOD! There's a pedestrian crossing with
a pedestrian waiting at it and that car just STOPPED for him! Hey, that
one did the same thing! And that one! Wow...."

(New Zealanders should not be allowed in America; they will all be wiped
out by American drivers in the first day.)

For those of you who don't know the story I'm in New Zealand for a year,
doing my third year of college at Massey University in Palmerston North
(it's that funny dot north of Wellington, if you can find Wellington.)
I've been here for about 4 months and I love it. It's beautiful, it's
friendly, and the people think snow only occurs in ski resorts.

And, no, you can't get too much further from Virginia than this. <grin> I
do get a little homesick every now and then, mostly because my family is
so far away and I can't hop home for the weekends any more. And there is
some degree of culture shock. Like when I try to cross roads- or when
they try to serve me spagetti on toast for breakfast....

What about D.B. himself, while you're asking? I miss this being the Brin
list....

I have to say, the list has gotten pretty boring of late- no one to pick
on except JDG and Darryl <poke, poke>. What happened to all you noisy
biased L3 posters out there, eh? Get a life or something?

Let's take it away- nobody's allowed to have a life if I don't!
