Jeroen, I submit that the declaration of human rights doesn't condone
the death penalty, it doesn't explicitly state that the death penatly
is fine. But it also does not state that the death penalty is
neccesarily a violation of human rights either.
I understand that both you and AI view the death penalty as a human
rights violation, and that's a defensible position. However, the UN
declaration of human rights doesn't explicitly condemn it. That's not
to say that it can't be condemned, just that the UN doesn't do it.
