Whenever I am IN the United States, I rarely see arrogance (certainly no more
than I see in any other country, and less than many places) - I do see a
majority with an outspoken pride in their country.
Whenever I am OUTSIDE the United States, the people I meet from the USA are
usually outspoken in their national pride, but there are an awful lot of them
with sheer arrogance which is (a) annoying, (b) embarassing to other Americans
in their group and (c) unjustifiable. Quite simply, many Americans abroad paint
an awful picture of their countrymen, and like it or not that is what we see.
That is what Kat was referring to when she supported Sonja in the first place,
and it is VERY real.

On my last trip across the Pacific I was seated between 2 American couples. One
couple were utterly charming and VERY proud of their country. The other guy was
obnoxious and arrogant whenever we talked about anything outside the USA. It's
just an example, but it is very common.
BTW, the only thing we could all agree on was that the flight was bloody awful.
For a country who claims to have invented the airplane, you have the worst
airlines...
