Free the West Bank! (was RE: BRIN-L digest 1823 Free the Netherlands!)

Exactly from what (or from whom) did Israel "free" the West Bank? I have
noticed that Israeli�s sometimes refer to the Occupied Territories as "Freed
Territories", but the rest of the world (including the US -- Israel�s best
friend) calls it "Occupied Territories".
 
And given the relationships between Palestinians and Israeli�s on the West
Bank, the Palestinians living there apparently don�t consider themselves
"freed" by Israel.
