I first read _The Peace War_ as a serial in Analog. I'm not sure if
_Marooned in Realtime_ was also serialised in Analog. As well as being
published as separate volumes the books were published as an omnibus edition
_Across Realtime_ in 1986 and an expanded edition in 1991 with another
shorter story "The Ungoverned" in the middle, which is the edition I have
(stored away somewhere I can't locate).

I found _The Peace War_ the best part. "The Ungoverned" introduces the
policeman character in _Marooned in Realtime_ (as I remember) and is a weird
story of unbridled Libertarianism where individuals with private nuclear
arsenals fight off the evil tax-collecting government (or something).
