I haven't seen either one, but the word I've been getting from friends is
that Tomb Raider is in the SAN loss category of Bad. I'm still recovering
from D&D: The Abomination They Called A Movie, so I may wait for video. The
review in Salon was certainly unkind.
I'm waiting for "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back" and, later in the year,
"The Fellowship of the Ring". That, and the Paramount Theatre here in
Austin will be showing "Spartacus" around my birthday, so I'm planning to
use some passes I got to treat myself to a Real Movie Experience.
Best movie I've seen recently? "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon", by a long
shot. How a piece of $hit like "Gladiator" won best picture is beyond me.
