Re: Shining city on the hill

The reference is from something written by one of the Pilgrim fathers: "We 
shall be as a shining city on a hill." It may be a biblical reference, but 
most people know it from the Pilgrim times.

In more modern times, Ronald Reagan used the reference in a 1984 speech or 
commercial, leading to Mario Cuomo's memorable keynote address to the 1984 
Democratic National Convention in San Francisco.
