This is a little disturbing. A car rental company tracked the use of the
rental with a GPS and the man that rented the car found that his checking
account had been debited an addition $400+ because he exceeded the speed
limit imposed by the rental company.

Certainly it is not reasonable to drive in excess of 80 MPH as this guy did,
but I am not sure that it was reasonable for the rental company to
automatically deduct funds from the renters checking account without
warning. I am still undecided if the renters privacy was violated. The
article states that this policy was clearly stated in bold on the rental
agreement, but I am not sure that the consequences were clearly spelled out.
Not to mention the impact and annoyance of finding that your checking
account is suddenly $400 smaller!
