Hmmmm... I tend to agree with Alberto that homosexual love is considered normal and acceptable. One might by friends with the men one sparks clones with or concieve vars with, but not LOVE them. That would be icky! One piece of evidence, I don't know if we've gotten to that point in our analysis. Maia reminices over the "ages of Lamia", where all the different stages of her mother-clan are mapped out. First they form a crush on an older Lamia, then find a special friend from another clan. I don't have my book handy, so I can't find a page reference, but it's pretty clear that female-female sexuality is considered normal. However, it does seem that there is no relationship that could be compared with our marriage. The only really close relationship that seems to exist is the clone-clone relationship. Even parent-child relations are not allowed to be close, especially if the child is a var, witness the cold way Maia and Leie are kicked out of the clan home.
