Same with me and all of my old friends. Tens of
thousands of sailors have also been on carriers and
our few cruisers for years at a time. The Navy told
me my dose when I got out, I asked a friend of mine
who was an ELT how it compared with the average
person's dose. He said that surfers get a
significantly higher dose in the same amount of time.
Mine was about average for working in the engine room.
When I was in nuclear power school, there were
protesters standing outside the gate with the average
anti-nuke signs. When we would walk offbase to get a
burger or something, many of us would talk to them.
They stopped coming after a short while, I think they
felt silly.
