I'm not opposed to free trade but the blanket statement that free trade
benefits _everyone_ is flat out ludicrous. What about the third world country
whose factories are able to get away with contaminating the ground water and
end up killing people as a result? Free trade created the factory and I don't
think you can argue that those that died benefited no matter how many cheap
light bulbs they could decorate their hut with no electricity with.

How about a Union man in the U.S. with six kids and a six figure mortgage that
looses his job because his company moved to a country with cheap labor? Do
you really think that he's going to stand up an applaud his boss for hiring
someone cheaper? Do you think that he'll be able to pay the mortgage or his
kids tuition flipping burgers at Wendy's?

Free trade can be beneficial to most in the long run but there are plenty of
people getting hurt in the meanwhile.
