Reliable means showing up for work when scheduled, not necessarily being
scheduled for a lot of hours. It does not necessarily mean working a lot of
hours. A place like a supermarket or a fast food joint does not need their
part time workers to work a large number of hours. It does need them to
show up when they agree to. My daughter was able to dictate her hours
because she was reliable and good at doing small jobs in a supermarket.
When she was home for a few weeks, the manager would be more than willing to
take her for whatever hours she could work.
