Actually, he goes to bed with a sleeping mask anyway, and leaves a light
on, so I don't have to worry about turning on the light when I'm coming
in with Sammy at night. (Sammy still sleeps in our room. If he's
stirring, I can usually wake up before he goes into full ballistic mode,
and start dealing with him when he's calmer than he might become.)
As for getting an AC adapter, there's a double outlet by my side of the
bed, but it already has a power strip (which a couple of lights are
plugged into, lights which will bother the largest beta emitter less
than the overhead will) and an air cleaner plugged into it, so there's
no available outlet for a book light. But once I have a book light, the
other lights may be more ditchable, especially after Sammy is sleeping
more in his own room. (One of the lights plugged into the power strip
is set to illuminate something he likes to look at. An extra few tens
of watts of light near my face is a small price to pay for a calmer
baby.)
And I need to go find out if Sammy is down for the night, and if so, go
to bed. (I take him upstairs, put him in the co-sleeper, and if the
transport & deposit doesn't wake him enough to provoke screaming, he's
good for a few hours of sleep.) And maybe I'll finish the book during
the initial feeding of the day, and if so, I'll try to post something
about it sometime tomorrow.
