Example from real life: at one point during the recession we went through in the early '90s, I was unemployed for well over a year. Do you think I didn't *try* to find a job -- even one I wasn't trained for? Do you think I didn't *try* to change that very unpleasant situation of having to live off 70% of minimum wage? FYI: Back then, 70% of mimimum wage meant a net income of ~NLG 1,200. With fixed costs such as rent, utility bills and insurances amounting to almost NLG 900 per month, there wasn't much money left for basic needs such as food and clothing, let alone for luxury goods such as books or computer games. It took all my bookkeeping skills to make ends meet. I can assure you that many people in that situation do *not* manage to make ends meet -- they end up sinking deeper into debt every month. > >BTW, your blanket statement "low education employees are notoriously > >unreliable" is an insult to a very large group of people. > > It also happens to be true. So, is something still an insult, even > if it is true? If it is true, I wouldn't consider it an insult. The keyword here however is the word "if". There are millions of low education employees in the US alone, and millions more in the rest of the world. Can you provide the data to prove that all those millions of people (or at least many of them, say 80%) are unreliable?
