I hope and pray that someday, your eyes will be opened to the truth that
hard-heartedness is a disease that spreads and grows. Your fundamental
assumptions are wrong and they are leading you into hate, which shows quite
clearly here. The hatred is painful to see, but perhaps there can be a
benefit from bringing it into the open.

Me:

Actually, I'm saving my compassion for the thousands of dead Americans. My
compassion for the people who murdered them is...limited. Bully for you if
you feel some. You can parade your moral superiority over people like me
all over the place. Good for you. You will, of course, be protected by
people who believe what _I_ believe. And you can feel superior to them
too. But, well, there's nothing new about that, is there? Meanwhile,
while you're working on that moral superiority, you might want to polish up
on how to speak to your equals without soundling like a patronising *****.
That might be harder, though. I'm not sure how wanting the people who
killed thousands of innocents dead counts as hatred. But maybe it does to
you. Go tell the families of the dead about the virtues of compassion and
understanding for the people who did this, and tell me their answer.

To adopt your tone:

I hope and pray that someday, [sic.] your eyes will be opened to the truth
that terrorists are the only people who have any moral responsibility for
the murders that they commit and sympathy for terrorists is a disease that
spreads and grows. Your fundamental assumptions are wrong and they are
leading you into moral relativism, which shows quite clearly here. The
moral relativism is painful to see, but perhaps there can be a benfit from
bringing it into the open.
