Interestingly enough, the White House now says that the plane that hit the
Pentagon was initially targeting the White House.   If you have ever been
to DC, however, you know that the White House is very hard to see from the
air - it is much smaller than you probably imagine, and is surrounded by
trees.  

Apparently, the plane that hit the Pentagon circled the city once, and when
they could not find the White House, they picked out the Pentagon (which is
highly visible from the air.)

This bit of information, of course, suggests that the plane in Pennsylvania
may well have targeted the Capitol Building.
