The Monument is on the Mall across from the White House, much closer than it
is to the Capitol Building. I wasn't going to comment on this, but I'll put
on my pilot hat anyway and say that I can't imagine that those terrorists,
with pilot training, couldn't hit the White House if they wanted to. It is
prominently marked on every sectional and TCA chart, which are what every
pilot uses. It is prohibited airspace, after all, which pilots must learn
to avoid -- an incursion into prohibited airspace got you a pretty serious
phone call from the FAA in the past. Probably a whole lot more serious now.
And the reflecting pond is way at the other end from the Capitol, in front
of the Lincoln Memorial, as long as we're reviewing our Washington
geography...
