That depends on his background. If he just came out of a war zone (such as Bosnia or Afghanistan), it is quite normal. Otherwise, there is nothing to worry about if it does not last. Now, if he did not come out of a war zone, and he is still only painting scenes of war and destruction a year later, I think it is time to get some professional help.
