Volt is _the_ unit of electric potential, defined as
1 Volt = 1 Joule / 1 Coulomb

electron volt is something like a kilowatt-hour, because
it's a non-standard unit of energy. 1 electron volt =
1 Volt * the charge of 1 electron; in other words,
1 electron volt = 1 joule * (charge of the electron measured in coulombs)
