Here is a thoughtful article on the nastiness of building a coalition. After all, it is painfully obvious that this coalition against terrorism requires making deals with the same sort of despicable characters that the coalition against communism required.

That's a problem. IMHO, the answer is that once the Taliban has been defeated, the United States continue pursuing the course of freedom against the next tier of enemies. If that means we eventually have to build a coalition to force a regime change in Saudi Arabia, so be it. It will certainly be about time.
