Fellow Brinellers,

Brin-L has been in existence for over five years now, but it never had a
real home on the Web. Sure, there are excellent Brin-related sites such as
those of David Brin himself, Steve Sloan, Stewart Blandon and myself (to
name a few), and we do have our own chat room, but I still felt there was
something missing...

Well, those days are over now! Brin-L finally got its own domain name --
about bloody time, me thinks. :-)

Earlier today I spent my life savings (ahem: USD 19.95) and registered the
domain name "brin-l.com". And since *I* am the one who paid for it, the URL
www.brin-l.com takes you to my Wonderful World of Brin-L Website. :-)

Now, there is some good news and there is some bad news:

The good news is that you no longer need to type the long URL (but then,
you all had it bookmarked anyway, right?), or be annoyed by the ad frame
you got when you went to the site through http://go.to/brin-l (unless of
course you still use that URL, but why should you?).

The bad news is that the site is still hosted at Yahoo/GeoCities, so you
will still have to live with that damned ad thingy in the upper right
corner and that extremely annoying pop-up screen. But I am already looking
around for a paid hosting provider, so with some luck the ad terror will be
over soon.

For your viewing pleasure: the other sites I mentioned are

David Brin: www.davidbrin.com
Steve Sloan: www.sloan3d.com/brinl/
Stewart Blandon: www.gayspermbank.com/brin/
