From: The Volkskrant (Dutch newspaper) (translated from Dutch, and summarised)

Following a request from the FBI, Dutch authorities in Amsterdam have
started investigating Reid. He supposedly purchased (for NLG 500) the
explosives from right-wing extremists in Amsterdam, where he stayed for
three months, and constructed the bomb himself.

The FBI has also asked Belgium, the UK and France to investigate the
matter. According to the FBI, Reid stayed in Brussels from Dec. 5 through
Dec. 14. There he claimed his passport had been stolen; he subsequently
obtained a new one from the British embassy. He then returned to Amsterdam,
picked up the explosives, and took the train to Paris on Dec. 16, where he
purchased an airline ticket (for well over NLG 4000) to Antigua by way of
Miami.

Yesterday an Israeli newspaper wrote that Reid was in Israel in June, where
he was briefly interrogated by security personnel. Reid supposedly went to
Israel to observe the security measures of Israeli airline El Al. A week
later he went to Egypt.

Reid, BTW, was described by acquintances of his as "a not too bright
criminal", which lead the authorities to believe he must have had help.

There is some more info in the article, but that was already covered in the
article Ronn posted, so I have not repeated it here.
