IIRC, Alsaice/Lorraine belonged to the Roman Empire, so it should be part of France. But when the Kingdom of Chalemagne split into three parts, it was not made part of "France". But it was taken by France during the Modern Age, it was *not* lost after the Napoleonic Wars, but Prussia took it in the formation of the Second Reich, and France took it back after WW1. </nitpick> <caveat> All this IIRC - I may have mixed things a little bit </caveat> Alberto Monteiro
