As an example, Molly Ivins was once fired from a job at the NYTimes for 
referring to a community chicken killing as a 'gang-pluck.'  She got into 
trouble when she was at the Dallas Morning Herald for referring to a local 
Congressman as "If his IQ gets any lower they'll have to water him twice a 
day."  She also antagonized a bunch of Ross Perot supporters for referring to 
him as a 'yapping Chihuahua.'  She's also, as I have mentioned onlist, the 
author of a particularly brutal (but honest) book about George W. Bush's 
political career through the governorship of TX. 

She's not exactly a quiet liberal.  She is, however, sharp as a tack.  I do 
like her sense of humor, even if our politics don't always agree.
