So it might be a regular poster? I was thinking maybe Brin-L had a troll problem, rather than a smurf problem. If it *is* a smurf, what's the purpose, other than to mock a few of our heavily pro-America posters? And then, who here would feel most compelled to do that? Of course Jeroen comes immediately to mind when you talk about taking the starch out of Americans, but I'd have thought better of him than that. He's more up front, normally. Who does it leave? Any guesses?

Are you referring to these four messages (all that turned up in a search) from someone using the address "American Patriot" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>?

Nope, I didn't send them.

I seldom if ever use a different e-mail address, except for filling out forms so I don't get spammed, and that address is not with hotmail.  And I am not subscribed to Brin-L using any address but the one on this message, which is hardly pseudonymous.  If I am tempted to say something I feel I can't sign my name to, I keep my opinion to myself.

And I'm sure that most of you know by now that I seldom keep my opinions to myself.  ;-)

If you are referring to any off-list message sent to anyone on the list, I didn't sent that either.  AFAIK the last time I communicated off-list with any member of the Brin-L list was several months ago when Julia wrote me to inform me that the listserver had hiccupped and dropped me from the list for no apparent reason, and we went back and forth until the problem was solved.

Sorry, but I'd take Dole over what we've got now in a heartbeat.
Hell, I'd take Dukakas or Mondale for that matter. I'm not even
sure that Quail wouldn't be an improvement.

Hey, why is you badmouthin' mr. Bush? He's the best damned president this country has ever seen. He'll show the world that you ain't gonna mess with us and get away with it!

Second, on (once again) anti-Americanism in Europe. The last few
days have seen European newspapers and politicians criticize the
US constantly for its supposed mitreatment of these prisoners.
This based on absolutely no evidence whatsoever fo any such
mistreatment - just the assumption that the US _had_ to be at
fault, and perhaps a great deal of eagerness for that to be the
case.
I think to be fair you have to recognise that these questions were
being raised in the US before the prisoners even reached Cuba, and
that sections of the American media have been at least as voracious
in painting a very dark scenario for Camp XRay.

We oughta have killed them all back in Afganastan. Had saved us a awful lot o trouble.

Given that this pay is below what it should be, the employee (in this
case, me) is obviously not paid "plenty for his position" -- he is, in
fact, underpaid.

If ya dont like it, ya can always quit the job. Dozens of folks willing to take yuor place for less pay.

And while I think my loyalties in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict or the "war on terrorism" are pretty clear, I have never suggested that we should "have killed them all" or "wipe 'm all out."  I regret the necessity of any casualties, even among the guilty, and especially among the innocent victims of "collateral damage."  I would like to see the Palestinians, al Queda, etc. simply stop their terror attacks and live peacefully alongside Israel, the U.S., etc.  Of course, realistically I admit that that seems unlikely to happen any time soon . . .

Any further questions, please ask.
