I'll better interfere here. From the Arab countries point of view the timing
was far from brilliant. Israeli fighting Army force is based mostly on
reservists. And when it is simpler to gather all? When they are at homes
(because this specific Holy Day prohibits *any* transportation) or when they
are on picnics two days later? (we are talking pre-mobile era). Israel was
not expecting attack at that day and paid heavily for that, but I hate to
think about what could happen if Israel would have been attacked two days
later, during Sukkot holidays.
