Jeroen answered <<Note that I did not say anything about that attack being justified or not. I only pointed out that the strategy in itself is excellent. Do you have any friends in the military? If you do, call them and ask what would be the best time to attack an enemy: when he is wide awake and on full alert, or when he is letting his guard down.>> Ilana I'll better interfere here. From the Arab countries point of view the timing was far from brilliant. Israeli fighting Army force is based mostly on reservists. And when it is simpler to gather all? When they are at homes (because this specific Holy Day prohibits *any* transportation) or when they are on picnics two days later? (we are talking pre-mobile era). Israel was not expecting attack at that day and paid heavily for that, but I hate to think about what could happen if Israel would have been attacked two days later, during Sukkot holidays. Ilana from Israel about a month in the country when the war began.
