Everything you said, Ronn, was right on. I know the speakers were bad, I
took them and the radio out and bench tested with another unit, tested radio
with other speakers, ect.

I don't have reciept for speakers, bought them over two years ago. The
problem actually happened at the end of September and I didn't pull the
speakers and radio until Christmas. (Damn terrorists).

But the radio wasn't water spotted so I figure I got a noise spike from a
lightning strike.

All I wanted was the tech to tell me that if I bought 90 or 120 watt
speakers that my 40 watt radio would NEVER blow them out.
