No prob. I'm going to need a few days to set up some "infrastructure" anyway. One thing we need to think about is how to structure our goal. Do we want to set up a fairly specific plot and portion out sections to writers, or do we want to set up a fairly loose "arc" and allow ourselves to meander towards closure? I favor the latter. It'll put less stress on us in our week-to-week deadlines and provide more opportunity for humor and improvisation. Plus, I think it would be incredibly cool if this turned into a long-term project, and maybe the sort of thing that people on the 'net would read and then join Brin-L to see what spawned it. But because each segment would be a smallish bite, it shouldn't place a great time burden on any one person. The way I figure it, ST says that from Kithrup Tom & company will have to make at least 5 wormhole jumps to get home, and just getting them out of Kithrup-space will be enough of a challenge to provide lots of material for the beginning. Plus, there's e-space to think about, and I think we have a great opportunity to look at whatever passes for Galactic culture's seedy underbelly. :-) That, plus the effects of three humans, three neo-dolphins, and a neo-chimp living in close quarters for a long time. But, as I've said, please send me your thoughts, ideas, and comments. Marvin Long Austin, Texas
