Maybe it does not stand for anything. Americans are used to people having a
middle initial in their name, so maybe the "H." part was made up by some
American who could not understand that there are people with no middle
initial. :-)
I'd smack you for the anti-American post, but you're too far away. You don't see us knocking the Dutch for being first in the world for nothing greater than windmill production and usage. We Americans are VERY proud our Dutch neighbors have mastered 16th century engineering. :-)

And, in answer to your post: some hospitals in the US and Canada actually put "NMI" in a patient's record when they don't have a middle name. It stands for No Middle Initial.
