I don't know many families that left SU because they could not practice
religion there - some left because of anti-Semitism, some because of
communism, some because they believed that their motherland is Israel. Some
of those who came here became religious, some observe less - because *there*
you observed religious rules to keep your uniqueness (sp) and there is no
reason for it here.
