See, I can't stand either Pinochet or Castro and find the hair-splitting attempts to calculate who was better or worse pointless and a bit offensive. They were both worthless scum, murderous dictators who savagely killed their way to power and savagely maintained their hold on power. It's like the absurd old argument about "totalitarian" vs "authoritarian" governments. Both are bad, neither deserves any defense, and we should be ashamed of supporting any of them and not opposing all of them.
