Unfortunately, this is EXACTLY how the media usually spins this story/topic.
Who knows if it is factually correct or not. I have started to assume that
virtually ANY media report is slanted by the reporter/network in some way,
shape or form.
I recently found it very interesting to read similar stories in the US media
and then look for them in news reports from other countries. They tend to be
very different, almost to the point of being about different subjects.
Unfortunately, I don't have any specific articles that I can give as
examples (but I will keep my eyes open).
It has been my experience over the last few years that the media tend to
leave out certain facts and relevant information to make their story more
dramatic. My favorite example is the shooting of the unarmed black man in
Cincinnati last year. The media made this huge issue about this guy being
black and getting shot, but what they failed to share was that just as many
Latino and white suspects had been shot under similar circumstances. By
failing to give that additional information, they made the story out to be a
"racial" issue instead of a general crime issue. The result was city wide
rioting in Cincinnati, rioting that the media could have easily avoided.
However, if they had disclosed that information, their story would have been
much less dramatic and newsworthy. I label this type of reporting as
"irresponsible journalism"
As for Israel and Palestine, regardless of who was right or wrong in the
beginning, I personally think that both sides of this conflict do things to
provoke the other.
