received this on another list and found it to be absolutely true. So if you are
a member of Yahoo Groups, you should check these settings on your
account.

I got a notice from another list that when Yahoo updated their service
recently, they changed all of our settings to "yes" in the "do you want to
receive advertising" edits of our accounts. They even changed the settings
for "yes" to get advertising by snail mail and by telephone.
How to check:
Go to My Groups
click on Account Info
verify your password (if it asks)
your Yahoo ID card comes up.
Click on 'Edit your Marketing Preferences'
change the ones you want from "Yes" to "No"
Click Save Changes.

the page.
