The story behind his casting is interesting. This was his first movie role.
During casting, his portfolio was among many. At first, they had passed him
up. Then during a conversation between the director and the casting agent,
the director stated that he did not want some pretty boy as the lead part
playing a punker, casting aside all of the recommended actor's portfolios -
he wanted someone as ugly as... (looking down onto the desk of the casting
agent, and pointing at Nicholas's picture on top) HIM!
The rest is history.... and That's Hollywood!
