Who needs a dwarf star?  Larry Niven had a way to do this
in _A_World_Out_Of_Time_.  Just find a way to move Neptune around
so that you can steal the Earth away from its current orbit and
put it in a nice close oribit around Jupiter.  Meanwhile, add some
significant mass to Jupiter so that it will radiate heat and maybe
light.  We won't have to worry about the sun's nova any more, and
could buy another several billion years if done right...
