William Safire's column in yesterday's New York Times (and today's Austin American-Statesman, which is where I read it) discusses surveilence, internet privacy issues, and pending legislation about it.

The only sour note for me was the parenthetical comment about 2/3 of the way through. It interrupted the flow. I imagine that some others will find it more amusing than I did. Julia
