Yeah, I noticed that stuff. Also, the web-site hosting it doesn't seem
the sort of place to lend itself to straight Apocalyptic evangelizing.
Nevertheless, I'm pretty sure there's a burgeoning genre of Christian
apocalyptic literature that tries to "modernize" those prophecies by
portraying them happening in a modern context with a large slice of
political commentary on the side (the evil scientists; the well-meaning
but skeptical kids who are clearly destined for a bad end due to their
lack of credulity).
I do think it's satire...I think. But it's done so well that I'd be
surprised if there weren't hyperfundamentalists out there who'd simply
write the Pokemon critters off as "reaching out to a modern audience"
(like Christian heavy metal) and absorb the story itself as being essentially
true prophecy.
BTW, do a lot of the angels/agents-o-God(tm) look like giant spermatozoa
to you?
