who should also have experience in producing art, has been dumped on
recently. Let me mitigate this, if it's not already obvious to those critics
themselves [do I have to show level of competence?]. I have reduced the role
of critics from arbiter of meaning to arbiter of taste.

A good critic will tell you where to look, but you derive meaning, if any,
from what Barthes says. And it shows that Barthes was shortsighted in that
he did not limit his definition of art to that which experienced and
respected critics deem as art. He said, "It is ART, dambit!", and provided
no qualifications. Well, every genius has his flaws. I don't think he minds
me saying so.

Charlie Rose has fantastic taste, by the way [boss, I've told you nepotism
has its uses].
