There is no fundamental difference between the way doom, quake, wolfenstein, heretic, &c. ad infinitum play. The only real difference is the power of the processor / gfx cards to display more detail faster. There is no reason to change my method of playing, a method that is tried and true, that works, and is efficient. It would not inprove my game in any way, but would instead interfere with my ability to play.
